One of the good things about being part of the blogging community is that other bloggers tend to post things about new trends as they appear. Then they sort of propagate virally. Now one thing I have found that seems to pop up on every blog is new and better ways of getting traffic. This is almost as common as the get rich quick schemes that pop up.
Well RSSHugger is another one of those sites promising to increase traffic. This is their spiel as to what they are about.
The Idea
rssHugger is a unique website that aims to bring bloggers and readers together. rssHugger aims to provide blog owners with a unique easy-to-use way to promote their blogs by sending them traffic, building backlinks for search engine optimization, as well as attracting new rss subscribers if the content is interesting to the reader. rssHugger aims to help visitors be able to easily find blogs that write about subjects they are interested in. These subjects include: internet marketing, making money online, charity, sports, gambling, and many more. If the visitors find a blog that they had not previously heard about, they can easily add it to their RSS readers or bookmark it.
So it seems to be kind of like Stumble Upon but for RSS feeds. Now in order to get your blog listed you can pay a small fee or write a blog about them. Being cheap as I am I have opted for writing a blog about them. However it is kind of hard to review something that you have not yet tried. So I cannot make any reconmendations at this time. But I will keep you update.
On another note EntreCard is still performing very well for me. Right now as I write this is will cost you 124 EC to advertise on this site, and there are currently spots open. Others who have had their card displayed on my site have reported to me that it has worked very well. So if you have an extra 124 EC buy some ad space here.

I’ve been on rssHugger for a little longer than I have Entrecard, and I consistently have stayed in the top 50, for the month of January. However, I’ve actually had more traffic from Entrecard, by about 3-to-1.

I’ve signed up for them a while back, but could not find any Info on how it works (maybe just blind).
Let me know, how it develops for you.

Thats how I feel about quassia. But never fear I will keep you updated on how it works out. I am still somewhat surprised I have 42 RSS subscribers right now.

Nicole, basically it ranks you by how many people view your blog from their site…the more visits you get, the higher ranked you are, which means you are more likely to get viewed by more people. They reset the rankings every month, so that new blogs also have a chance of getting into the Top 100, by preventing the top blogs from always staying at the top. They level the playing field. I’ve only been on it since the beginning of January, and it’s given me 31 views, as of this post.

Steve,
How long does it take for them to read your post on RSSHugger and approve your site? Do they send an e-mail once they approve or disapprove your site?

Thanks Steve,
doesn’t sound like being worth it for me.
Did you see a change in your google ranking?
Since my experience with blogrush (or maybe just a google bumby two weeks = coincidence?) I’m a bit more careful with these things.
And their lack of explaining the procedure, especially the blog post thing just threw me off.

Ben, it took about 24 hours for me to get approved and on the list. Though I have notice the speed at which new blogs seem to be trying to get on, the admin may be getting swamped (I was just under the 500 mark, and it’s at 752 now, after about two-three weeks). I don’t recall getting an email, just sending them one with a link, that I had reviewed the site. I noticed I was on, I d not recall actually being told.
Nicole,
I’m too small to be ranked right now, as far as I can tell, so I have no way of knowing if it affected me good or bad. It is kind of a set it and forget it site though. It just automatically lists your posts everyday. Once you have the code on your site, you do not have to do anything, so time wise, it does not take any at all, once you get set up. AT this point for me, any exposure is welcome.

Mh, if noone checks those links that pop up over there, noone clicks it.
Same with Qassia I guess.
Difference at entrecard is, that you have to do something, imho get some traffic as well.
Some of it even sticks.
Just makes more sense to me.
I hopped on too many trains the last two weeks

I like EntreCard. So far it has been the best traffic generation program I have tried. But I thought what the heck might as well give RSSHugger a try too.

Here is a tip someone gave me that will help push you up in the rankings on RSSHugger- and yes it does work. Stumble your RSS page- the one with the name of your website at the end. Someone did this for me and I received over 100 subscribers in 24 hours. I haven’t been to the site for a while so I don’t know where I am or if there is anything in the TOS that says you can’t do that, but at one point I was #8- it’s worth a shot.

I am starting to get tired of all of the different rss and social sites but I keep joining them all trying to find the one that really boosts my blog the most to get more readers.
