I operate an online business from home and one of my partners just happens to be in Australia. We skype all the time (along with instant messenger, e-mail and some online planning tools such as backpack). I can’t even imagine what the bill would be like without skype.

Ever at thanksgiving some of my older relatives were talking about this great new thing called Skype. They didn’t understand it 100%; just that it makes phone calls for free (or nearly for free if you use the pay service).

Furthermore, you can use it to setup a company/personal landline with a professional voicemail for only a few bucks a month. Much less expensive than a private landline.

I have just started using Skype now myself. An old school friend I got in touch with recently suggested it. (He’s in San Francisco, and I’m in Sydney.)

Took a while to download, but it installed okay. Have had a couple of calls with my friend. I’m on dialup so it’s a bit muffled and drops out intermittently but it comes back and we can certainly talk for as long as we want. All for free.

Amazing.

I find that Skype requires much less bandwidth than doing audio or video chat on other IM protocols/clients. Plus, there’s Windows, Mac, and Linux clients for it so you don’t have to be limited by the OS or client used by everyone in the conversation. I use it daily for work and absolutely love it.

I have actually been thinking about ditching my iPhone and it’s 90 dollar bill in favor of skype. For like 3 dollars a month, you can make unlimited calls here in the US. And now that companies are making skype phones, it makes it that much easier to use it like a normal phone.

I’m not familiar with Skype but it sounds interesting. Nowadays it’s so hard to keep up with technology because something new is coming out everyday.

Skype is fantastic, i don’t use it often but when i do it’s a very fun time. I usually use it to call into the Tom Green show and have a video chat with him on his show, it’s so cool, i love the fact he uses it on his show too. Skype power! High five!

I have skype and can talk to others who have it. The trouble is, not everyone has it. There are so many other ways to communicate. But it is good for hearing the other person’s voice.

In the past I’ve used Skype but I don’t use it anymore.
Why? With my ISP it’s possible to have internet and phone together. So I pay €5 a month and I can call 24/7 for free to the whole country and beside that I have a fast internet connection.

My line is too slow for skype,….*sniffles*….but yes, I love it too
