I Still have to keep my Day Job

Stack of Money

If you have been following my blog then you know I have been in negotiations to sell some software that I have created. While I still cannot talk about that do to various non-disclosure agreements. I will try to give a vague enough update so as to skate around the non-disclosure agreements.

I will be getting paid a significant amount over two years. It was kind of like winning the lottery in a lot of ways. But due to the fact this is a large amount of money I knew I had to make sure it would be handled right. Instead of going out and buying that new house, new car and new motorcycle I went and talked to some accountants and financial planners.

So instead of going on a wild spending spree I went on a wild investing spree. If things go as planned I should be seeing returns on those investments in six months to a year. Once this starts happening along with some other software (I have written some mobile home park management software) sales I have happening I should be able to quit my day job and work from home full time.

Work on what? You may ask. Well I have several other ideas for software projects that I just have not had the time to do the market research for. Having the time to work on the while still maintaining a decent income is my end goal.

I want to be in the position where I can choose to work four to six days straight on a project. Then take three or four days off to be a bum and wander around town. It is an ambitious goal but I am sure I can reach it.

I hope this provides a brief update as to what is happening around here and blows some dust off this site.
