Give Me Some Comment and Link Loving!

by Ben on 1/16/2008

in Blogging, Creativity, WordPress

While I was surfing through numerous Word Press sites today I notice a bunch had this nifty Comment Luv Plug in. When you leave a comment at a site running this plug in it will automatically retrieve the commenter’s last post and place a link to it with their comment.

What a great way to not only encourage comments but help send some traffic to your fellow bloggers. I am pleased to announce that Tenacious Creations now has this plug in enabled. Comments are still moderated so you can not simply post spam in order to get links. But if you leave a comment related to the post be it good or bad it is almost always approved. If you have left a comment that has not been approved it may of got caught in my spam filters. Feel free to use the contact form on the about page to ask me why your comment was not approved.

I also noticed in my surfing that a lot of sites have a large number of links to other sites on them. This is something that Tenacious Creations is lacking. If you would like me to place a link from my site to yours please leave me a comment here. All I ask is for you to link to my site.

Plus if you are running Word Press and Adsense or TTZ ads consider signing up to beta test my new ads optimizer plug in. On that note, I had a found a few bugs in it today so the beta won’t be available till early next week.

Hey, we’re using pretty much the same please Wordpress theme, and I too enabled CommentLuv just last week, great little plugin. Now if only I had the traffic to get the comments…not really hacking it just yet with 151 RSS subscribers…

Thanks himanshu, I am always happy to share links.

Ben 1/17/2008 at 5:19 pm

David, 151 RSS feeds is a lot more than my 39 RSS feeds. But I am hoping my blog will grow with time.

Wogan May 1/17/2008 at 5:27 pm

I have 2. Beat that. Lol.

Then again, I’ve done nothing more than the standard orange RSS icon.. hmm…

Now, that you’ve said that I don’t dare mention my other blog, sciencebase.com, which has 3,138 as of today.

(Beware this week’s Feedblitz glitch, I had 4154 yesterday, which was a 1000 leap before the fall)

The trouble is that it has “rel=nofollow” in the link so you don’t get any Google juice from it.

David Bradley 1/22/2008 at 11:17 am

Presumably, the nofollow will not be present in all blogs, depends on their settings and/or whether they’re running the dofollow plugin too.

Jacob – I installed CommentLuv and wanted to make sure it was making dofollow links. I consulted with the plugin author and found out that you have to install another plugin to get rid of the nofollow tags. Then the CommentLuv plugin works perfectly to create nofollow-free links.

Oops, Ben, maybe you can edit that last comment. I meant to link to my blog instead of a post. Here is the post that concerns fixing CommentLuv to make dofollow links. Cheers! http://geekmommashup.com/2008/01/16/excellent-service-deserves-a-shout-out/

What happened to the “Do Follow” Post?
Or did I dream that one?

I was going to get me the code for my CSS…. :S

Ben 1/23/2008 at 7:09 am

I haven’t written a “Do Follow ” post yet. But you can get the code from GeekMoms site.

I also use commentluv and top commentors to encourage comments. Comment Relish is also a nice way to encourage a second visit by sending commentors a thank you email.

Cool plugin, I will add it to my WordPress blog too. I think it’s great that you are joining the no-nofollow community and that you are putting links in your blogroll to other bloggers. Also, the top commentors plugin can benefit readers by displaying the most useful comments.
